• Visitor Information

    Visiting Hours

When arriving at our hospital, please stop by the reception desk and sign in. We welcome visitors and family involvement. However, we ask that visitors recognize increased fatigue that the patient may experience while recovering from their illness or injury. Our general visiting hours are open. Visiting hours to our Intensive Care Unit are restricted from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Visitors should be respectful of the roommate of the patient whom they are visiting by honoring their privacy. Family rooms are located on each unit.

Children may visit patients under the supervision of a responsible adult. Children under the age of 12 are allowed in the Intensive Care Unit when arrangements are made with the house supervisor. Please do not leave children unattended in any area of the hospital.

    No Smoking

Kindred Hospital Dallas is a smoke-free environment. Please refrain from smoking while in the building. Smoking is allowed outside in designated areas only.

    Coffee/Vending Machines

Complimentary coffee is offered in the hospital cafeteria. Vending machines offering beverages and snacks are located on the first floor in the cafeteria.

Our cafeteria offers lunch to our hospital staff, patient families and visitors. We are open five days a week from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dinner is not available; however, there are numerous local restaurants. Patient meals are delivered at the following times:

    Breakfast: 8 – 8:30 a.m.
    Lunch: 12 – 12:30 p.m.
    Dinner: 5:30 p.m.
    Evening Snack: 8 p.m.

Visitor parking is provided in designated areas of the hospital lot. Spaces for handicapped parking also are available. While we strive to keep all areas of the hospital secure, we are not responsible for vehicle damage, fire or theft while parked in the hospital lot. Security is provided in the late evening and early morning hours.

    Family Concerns

Biweekly patient care conferences give family members the opportunity to meet with clinical staff to discuss their loved one’s current condition and progress, and to answer questions. Conference time may be scheduled by calling Social Services at (214) 355-2656.

    Post-Hospital Care

When your doctor determines that you no longer need the specialized services of our hospital but still require medical care, he or she may discharge you to a skilled nursing facility, a rehabilitation center, or to home care. Our discharge planner will help arrange for the services you may need after leaving the hospital.

Medicare and supplemental insurance policies have limited coverage for skilled nursing care and home healthcare. You should check your policies to be certain what services will be covered.
